Planning Commission: Florist shop’s move to North Jackson placed …

The owner of a florist shop will have to provide the Magnolia Planning Commission with more details before she can move the business across North Jackson Street from the Magnolia Regional Medical Center.

Brittany Sharp wants to move Brittany’s Holiday Shoppe from the west side of the square to an existing house at 808 N. Jackson north of Trull-Hollensworth Architects. She asked the commission for a variance that would allow the placement of a commercial business on a site that is zoned R-3.

Commissioners indicated that they were inclined to grant the variance, but decided to table the matter until they see a site plat that illustrates a parking plan.

The business will have about 1,500 feet for retail space, and an additional 1,000 square feet of work space. Regulations require one parking space per 150 feet of retail space.

Sharp said she planned to take down the trees between her store and the architectural office. The area will become a concrete drive and parking area. An additional three or four parking spaces would be available in a n……………. continues on Magnoliareporter
