Florist shop’s move on Magnolia Planning Commission agenda today

News from Magnoliareporter:

The possible move of a florist shop from the square to North Jackson Street will be taken up today by the Magnolia Planning Commission.

Last month, Brittany Sharp appeared before the commission to request a variance at 808 N. Jackson, located across the street from Magnolia Regional Medical Center. She wants to place a commercial business – specifically, Brittany’s Holiday Shoppe, in a house that has an R-3 zoning. An R-3 zoning does not permit businesses of her type.

Commissioners indicated last month that they were inclined to grant the variance, but decided to table the matter until they see a site plat that illustrates a parking plan.

The business will have about 1,500 feet for retail space, and an additional 1,000 square feet of work space. Regulations require one parking space per 150 feet of retail space.

Also today, commissioners will hear a variance request to allow the placement of a mobile home on a 5,850-square-foot lot. The request is from Theodora Morales.

The meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. in the Police-Fire Building.<……………. continues on Magnoliareporter
