Police say a 49-year-old Butte man threatened a florist after asking for 50 cents on Mother’s Day.

Samuel Lee Pierce is accused of telling an employee at Brenda’s Florist on Harrison Avenue, “Don’t make me come back with my .45 caliber to get it,” police said. Pierce referred to his panhandling for 50 cents.

Police say Pierce, who was extremely intoxicated, stumbled down the street to the Hastings parking lot. There he yelled at a father and son that he wanted his money.

Officers arrived on scene at about 11:15 a.m. Sunday and arrested Pierce on a charge of disorderly conduct.
